Recart

This is one of the world’s leading companies in the processing, packaging and distribution of foodstuffs. It has over 20 850 employees in more than 150 countries, working in strategic partnership with suppliers and customers to develop efficient, innovative and environment-friendly products for millions of people worldwide.

This is the most recent packaging system, which UFAB has been involved in since the development stage in the mid-nineties. Today we are suppliers of their high-capacity machines, which turn out 24 000 cartons per hour. We manufacture assemble and test these machines, and in some cases deliver directly to the end customer.

Recart is a carton-based packaging system with revolutionary possibilities. It’s an alternative packaging solution for many food products, traditionally packed in cans or jars, such as fruit, vegetables and cat and dog food.

Rex

This is one of the world’s leading companies in the processing, packaging and distribution of foodstuffs. . It has over 20 850 employees in more than 150 countries, working in strategic partnership with suppliers and customers to develop efficient, innovative and environment-friendly products for millions of people worldwide.

At the end of the seventies UFAB was asked by this customer if we would be interested in starting manufacture and assembly of complete packaging machines. We have been major suppliers of this system since then. Today we supply several modules, such as Magazines, Bottom Sealers and Filling Systems. We have also been part of their development work for quite some time.

Rex cartons are rectangular and have a gable top. Pre-cut carton material is fed into the packaging machine where the cartons are moulded and sealed at the bottom. They are then filled and top-sealed. This carton is used for pasteurised products worldwide.

Top

This is one of the world’s leading companies in the processing, packaging and distribution of foodstuffs. . It has over 20 850 employees in more than 150 countries, working in strategic partnership with suppliers and customers to develop efficient, innovative and environment-friendly products for millions of people worldwide.

Top is a packaging system that UFAB has supplied since the late eighties. At one time we delivered one module every four days. Today we supple two modules, Carton Section and Filling section. We have been involved in development work for this packing system for many years too.

The Top carton bottle is re-closable and rectangular, with rounded corners. It has a polythene cap that is injection-moulded and sealed simultaneously. It is simple to open and close, and pours easily.

National Oilwell Varco - Griphead

UFAB has total responsibility for the manufacture of Natipnal OilwellVarco’s products -  Griphead. These are delivered to Norway where they are included in drilling equipment for oil platforms. This project was initiated mid-1970 and UFAB delivered 15 units during 2009. The product comprises large cast and machined parts as well as hydraulics and electronics assembly. Two employees will be working on this product every year.

National Oilwell Varco is an international corporation with owners in the USA, they are world leaders in drilling equipment for the oil industry.  The company UFAB supplies is based in Kristiansand in Norway.

Today’s oil platforms are mainly automated, the work being done by machines controlled by operators in control rooms. In a drilling system there are one or more handling systems for drill rods. These systems lift the drill rods to the drilling deck where they are gradually fed down to the seabed, after which they bore through the bed in search of the black gold. Griphead is the essential part in the system that holds the rod during each lift.

FIAB HF – Machine 900

UFAB buys in and assembles Machine 900, then delivers it to their plant in Lysekil for implementation of the customer’s final requirements and for final testing. UFAB started this work at the end of 2008 and believes in a continued cooperation advantageous to all.

FIAB HF is located in Lysekil and has, during the past 50 years, developed high frequency welding machinery for the plastics industry. The products and processes are often the first machines on the market and over the years there have been quite a few different standard machines adapted to customer requirements.

The FIAB 900 machine welds longitudinally and moves on rails in the floor. This means that the machines are mobile and cables etc do not hang from the ceiling. The clear display gives the operator instructions regarding types of errors and 90% of all production stops can be solved by the operator with a few simple taps on the operating panel. It is also easy to change tools on the FIAB 900 machine using a unique pneumatic solution. The machine is CE marked and meets all health and safety requirements.

GreenClip – PacSaver

During 2008 UFAB developed a new type of machine called PacSaver. The machine uses plastic ties to attach labels to kitchen utensils. UFAB has been contracted to run this project from the idea stage, via design, manufacture and start-up through to final installation at the plastic producer in Småland.

PacSaver is a machine that labels mass-produced kitchen utensils. The machine is connected directly to the injection mould and the process churns out a box of ready-for-sale, ready-labelled products, all untouched by human hand. It is possible to choose the colour and shape of the ties and the labels. Further developments are expected.

The machine’s customer is GreenClip, a young and innovative company located in Gothenburg. The business concept is to provide manufacturers with efficient systems for attaching labels. This new, patented technique has given the industry a new way to apply labels. So far one machine is in use with very good results.

GE Healthcare

UFAB has for some years been involved in the development of prototypes. Serial production has begun and 600 units per year are planned.

GE Healthcare has a turnover of 17 billion USD and just over 46 000 employees in more than 100 countries. GE Healthcare in Uppsala is part of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), which every year invests 1 billion USD in research. In Sweden, research is partly dedicated to   discovering and diagnosing illnesses and diseases before they have time to develop.

GE Healthcare provides the health service with life-saving technology. GE’s Computer Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MR) and Ultrasound equipment, are used all over Sweden for visual diagnostics. Intensive care units and operating theatres use our equipment for monitoring and anesthesia delivery.

Digital communications in hospitals are connected via our clinical IT systems, such as PACS (Picture archiving) and RIS (Radiology Information). In Uppsala we develop and manufacture equipment that our customers use for the manufacture of biotech medicines, such as insulin and human growth hormones. In Umeå we manufacture laboratory equipment. We are close to 2 000 employees in Sweden.

Winden

WindEn is a Gothenburg-based company and part of the Mattsson group. WindEn has developed two larger domestic windmills, 30 and 45kW, producing respectively 73 000 and 106 000 kW p.a., providing annual wind speeds average  6 m/sec.

UFAB assembles all Winden’s turbines. The parts are bought in from Sweden and Europe where they are inspected and measured before being assembled as per the customer’s requirements. Before delivery UFAB carries out a final inspection, checking the mechanical and electrical work. Transport of the electric cabinet, turbine and a set of parts needed for final assembly is direct from UFAB. The blades and tower come from other suppliers.

VBG Group - Onspot

UFAB manufactures and assembles VGB’s trucks’ anti-skid protection, trademark OnSpot. This employs 2 people during the low season and 4 people during the high season. UFAB assembles and delivers as per customer requirements – delivery time 1-5 days.

VBG is an international engineering group with manufacturing and sales companies in Europe, India, China and the USA. Operations are divided into three – Truck equipment, Trailer equipment and Power transmission, with products marketed under well-known strong brand names, such as VBG’s MFC coupling system, Ringfeder and OnSpot.

OnSpot is activated by the touch of a button from the driver’s cab, without the vehicle stopping. The anti-skid device functions while the truck is moving forwards and while reversing or braking. The arms are released by the switch on the dashboard and the chain wheels are pressed against the sides of the drive- wheels. The friction causes the chain wheel to rotate and the chains are flung out under the tyres. The construction design ensures that there is always a chain under the drive wheel when the vehicle stops, when OnSpot is still engaged. Deactivation is accomplished by a touch of the button, once the vehicle is moving again. OnSpot can be used and manoevered at speeds up to 50 km/h.
